Some Janis Joplin Crap N Vomit for your Monday lunch hour

By Niki D'Andrea

Since it's Monday, I was going to do a blog analyzing various songs about Mondays, from the usual suspects like the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" to lesser-known odes like Fleetwood Mac's "Monday Morning." But then I got an e-mail from local experimental band Janis Joplin Crap N Vomit, who, in addition to having one of the most intriguing band names in the Valley, also possess some palatable-but-quirky pop skills.

And apparently, they have more than their share of conceptual and visual eccentricities, too. The e-mail from JJCNV included a link to their latest video, "In Kevin," which sonically reminds me of early '90s college rock and visually harks back to early '80s video animations and montages.

Check it out below.

Also be sure to check out Janis Joplin Crap N Vomit at the Phoenix New Times Summer of Sound pop show on Friday, July 18, at Cell Block in Mesa. Locals Black Carl, Yourchestra, and Andrew Jackson Jihad are also on the bill, plus headliners Estradasphere.
