Stray Cats, the band largely responsible for the resurgence of rockabilly, announced a U.S. tour that will stop at the Celebrity Theatre on November 16. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on August 1.

The tour includes all original members: singer and guitarist Brian Setzer, double bassist Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom.

Formed in 1979, the trio — clad in vintage ‘fits and sporting sky-high pompadours — brought music inspired by ’50s greats like Carl Perkins and Gene Vincent to the 1980s musical landscape, showering it with hits like “Stray Cat Strut,” “Rock This Town,” and “Look at that Cadillac.”

The band has taken a few breaks throughout the years. They first called it quits in 1984 and found their way back together a couple of years later, maintaining an on-again, off-again schedule. Their light has been on since a reunion in 2018 after nearly a decade, and now the group is gearing up for this tour that kicks off in the fall.

Fans are excited. Local promoter Danny Zelisko Presents announced the show on his Facebook page, and questions ranged from people wondering if it was the original lineup to whether or not there would be a designated area for hotrods.
