The Lawrence Arms are three Midwestern guys who know how to party. These Chicago punk rockers keep with the old-school style of short songs played fast, and on Cocktails & Dreams, vocalist and bassist Brendan Kelly (formerly of the Broadways) preaches the joys of a good night at the bar. No doubt, the Lawrence Arms can match fellow punks The Casualties in speed, intensity and drinking ability. However, there are two major differences between the bands: their look and musical complexity. The Lawrence Arms updated their image — no leather and liberty spikes — and they incorporate slower, melodic parts into their songs, along the lines of Rise Against. This show is destined to be a killer night of dancing and drinking, so throw on some Chuck Taylors and eat a little something to balance out all that PBR you’re going to drink.
