The Rolling Stones and Alice Cooper? Can a classic rock bill even get any better than that? The Stones, of course, are still amazing live, still able to invest a song they’ve done no fewer than a billion times — from “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” to “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” — with the reckless abandon it takes to make those jokes about how old they are seem dumber every year. And even if they do throw in some new material to show how “relevant” they are, those songs are coming from their most exciting new release in more than 20 years. But don’t be shocked if Alice Cooper blows them off the stage. It’s nothing personal. It’s just that he’s got more to prove than they do. And this is his chance: a big stadium gig in his own backyard with a band he should be thinking of as fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers — only Alice Cooper’s never been inducted into the Hall of Fame, an oversight of Iggy-esque proportions. Heads will definitely roll, and there’s no way he’s playing anything but classics.
