Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.
While I've chosen this Tumblr that's run by an LA Times writer so I can share it with other writers, I've also chosen it so everyone else can enjoy it as well. I sure do enjoy your writing, Todd Martens, so here's to you.
This week's Tumblr of the Week pick is You Don't Want to Be Todd Martens.
More on what's awesome about this week's Tumblr of the Week after the jump...
Finally, a commentary blog by a fantastic writer who gives his opinions and backs them up while standing his ground. He's brutally honest, which always makes for fantastic reading material. Furthermore, Martens features some standout quotes and excerpts from other writers too. He posts anything from comedian Marc Maron's stance on other people's cats to a song he thinks is a real gem.
Check out You Don't Want to Be Todd Martens for plenty of wisdom. Some insightful posts include a reblog of Greg Kot's review of this year's Pitchfork Music Festival and Odd Future's irony at the event; an open letter from Zooey Deschanel to an LA Times writer; Todd's own list of the best albums of 2011 thus far; and an album review of B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray.
Todd's blog has a lot to offer. Peep this shit.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
