In this week’s issue our new Clubs Editor Jason P. Woodbury writes about up and coming Tempe post-punk act Vegetable. The band has only been together about three months but already done a regional tour, pressed vinyl and had the honor of playing the last show held inside the now-shuttered Eastside Records. The first act to play the beloved shop? Locally-famous punk act Sun City Girls — making them part of an impressive lineage within the DIY scene.

Also in this week’s issue New Times freelancer Chris Hassiotis, who formerly worked as the music editor of the alt-weekly in Athens, Georgia talks about the city’s Elephant 6 collective. The Holiday Surprise Tour, making its way to The Duce tonight, is the manifestation of everything right with Athens music, he argues.

Oh, and there are short previews of incoming tours by Jackson Browne, Quiet Riot, Unwritten Law and Emelie Autumn.
