If you're looking for a hip-hoppin' way to spend Halloween (and you're too young for the bars), Jilly's American Grill in Chandler is hosting an 18-and-older costume bash complete with the latest in hip-hop tunage.

The bar, which we're a little sketched out about, considering the bouncers pad you down before you enter, still has a fun vibe with a video DJ and big dance floor. DJ Green Lantern spins Saturday.

The spot also serves up a wide variety of bar food and has plenty of spots to take a breather if you get winded doing the monster mash.

What has us intrigued, though, is the big $1,000 cash prize for best costume. Maybe it's worth debuting our Lady Gaga outfit there?

Admission is free for ladies before 11 p.m. and $5 for men before 10:30 p.m. Log on to www.myspace.com/vipenterprises for more info.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
