The Arizona Diamondbacks scored a quartet of runs in a single inning to rally back from an 0-4 deficit last night, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Colorado Rockies. The D-backs fell to their National League West foes 5-4 in the 10th inning after Rox catcher Wilin Rosario's base hit plated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez for the winning run.
It's one of thew few contests that Arizona (26-20) has lost this season in extra innings and ties up their current three-game series with Colorado at one apiece.

Arizona starting pitcher Ian Kennedy had yet another tough outing on Tuesday night at Coors Field in Denver as he struck out six but supplied seven hits and three earned runs over six innings. Two runs came in the second off Kennedy's pitches with a Troy Tulowitski double and a parade of singles from Rosario, Nolan Arenado, and DJ LeMahieu.
The Rockies continued roughing up the D-backs pitcher in the next two innings. Tulowitski got his ninth homer of the year in the third and LeMahieu whacked an RBI double in the fourth. (The later scoring followed a throwing error by Didi Gregorius that caused his toss over to Paul Goldschmidt to be late enough that an attempted tag-out of Arenado at first was rule safe by umpire Dana DeMuth.)
Arizona's bats stayed mostly quiet (save for Kennedy's double in the third) until the seventh when they ended Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin's night. After a fly out by Gregorius, Goldy was walked and later made it to third on a throwing error by Rockies' baseman Jordan Pacheco that also allowed Eric Chavez to reach first.
Chacin then walked Cody Ross before Jason Kubel slammed an arcing RBI double that fell into an outfield gap (despite CarGo's attempt at a diving catch). Martín Prado's grounder RBI single then brought in Ross and Kubel to tie things up. Chacin was gonezo after that, but Arizona couldn't get anything going in either the final two innings of regulation or the tenth on Colorado's relievers Josh Outman, Matt Belisle, Rex Brothers, and Rafael Betancourt before game-winning hit.
The rubber game in the series takes place this afternoon at 12:10 p.m. local time. Pitching matchup: Arizona's Trevor Cahill (3-4, 2.48 ERA) vs. Colorado's Jorge De La Rosa (5-3, 3.58). No TV. Radio: KTAR 620 AM. More info: www.dbacks.com.
