Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, state Representative Carl Seel, and others held a press conference yesterday at the capitol to pimp out Seel's House Bill 2480.
Seel's bill is the watered-down, penis-free version of last year's "birther" bill, which forces presidential candidates to sign a sworn affidavit that they're eligible in order to appear on the state's ballot.
The bill also allows any qualified elector to challenge the affidavits in court, and it comes with an emergency clause -- just to be sure someone could create yet another statewide embarrassment by November if the governor were to sign the thing.
The bill's not having any easy time getting through the Legislature, but a few people were concerned about getting it passed for "voter protection" purposes.
"Voter protection" doesn't explain why Arpaio was there along with "birther" squad lead investigator Mike Zullo and conspiracy nut Jerome Corsi, who are trying to push the "Cold Case Posse" investigation into President Obama.
Seel is so confident in his legislation that he declared it was "fitting and appropriate" to
discuss his "birther" bill in the Senate chamber at the old capitol, as
it's right across the hall from where legislators once debated giving
women the right to vote.
"It couldn't be more American," Seel said of his bill.
This morning's question: is Carl Seel's HB 2480 -- which you can read here -- voter protection or nonsense?
