Conservative Blog Site Says Kirk Adams is New State House Speaker

By Ray Stern

The conservative/Republican blog site Sonoran Alliance is reporting that its sources say State Representative Kirk Adams has been elected House Speaker.

The short article also says John McComish has been elected Majority Leader and Andy Tobin elected Majority Whip.

Barrett Marson, spokesman for Republican lawmakers, says he's too busy to talk right now, but didn't deny the report.

Adams, who represents Mesa's District 19, is a small business owner who won a second term in Tuesday's election.

Sonoran Alliance isn't afraid to pass half-assed rumors on to its readers. Its writers -- almost all of whom hide behind handles like "Candie Dates" or "Pat" -- gleefully blogged about a bogus survey last month.

However, it also appears that the site is written by avid supporters of local Republican politicians, if not the politicians themselves. With "sources" like that, it's certainly possible they were the first to learn of the new Republican leadership. I'll update this blog later if the news is confirmed.
