Well, it looks like the human-caused fire burning near Prescott might not burn down the entire city — or any of it, really.
The Doce Fire was 50 percent contained as of Sunday night, and all the evacuations orders since have been lifted.

Now, it’s more of an inconvenience for everyone, as the forest area is still closed, as are some surrounding roads, and the estimated price-tag has surpassed $5.3 million.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it’s been said that the area where the fire started, the Doce Pit, is a common place for people to go target shooting.
Here’s what’s on the agenda for the fire-fighting crew:
Firefighters continued rehabilitation of fire lines. On the northwest flank, crews resumed building direct fire line in steep terrain, after spiking out nearby last night. On the eastern side, helicopters again dumped water and foam above Granite Basin Lake to stop fire from backing downhill. Crews continued to monitor the fire in some of the less active areas around the southern flank. A mobile retardant base was established on the northeastern side to provide helicopters a nearby dip site. The night crews transitioned to a swing shift this afternoon.
