When students are accepted to both Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, a majority choose to attend ASU, according to one set of statistics.
It’s not a sure thing, but Parchment, a company that helps students transfer their official high school transcripts to colleges, looked at its users’ data to see which colleges they end up choosing after being admitted to multiple schools.
When the users were accepted to both ASU and UA, 58 percent chose ASU.
When a student was admitted to either ASU or UA and Northern Arizona University, NAU lost out to both of the bigger schools.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Parchment did nationwide rankings, based on more than 440,000 acceptances by its users. You can use it to compare any two schools.
Of course, there’s a caveat: The Parchment service is used much more often in certain states, so there’s a certain regional bias. For example, there were about 2,800 users from Arizona, but more than 4,700 from Minnesota, and only 98 from New Mexico.
