Filmmakers Valeria Fernandez and Dan DeVivo talk about Two Americans
Want to help tell the world what a sadistic, bigoted power-mad nut Sheriff Joe Arpaio is? Well, here's your chance, by ponying up the dough to help local journalists/filmmakers Valeria Fernandez and Dan DeVivo complete their documentary Two Americans.
The film has been years in the making, and is currently in post-production. Bt as you know, everything costs moolah, and DeVivo and Fernandez need a bit more of it to get over the final hump. So they've set up a fundraising page at indiegogo.com/TwoAmericans in an attempt to raise the $10K or so needed to finish the project.
If you're a Joe-foe, your money could not be better spent. As the video above shows, the filmmakers gained unprecedented access to Arpaio's inner sanctum, which will allow DeVivo and Fernandez to rip the sheriff to shreds on-screen with absolute authority.
Arpaio's insane megalomania and opportunistic immigrant-bashing is contrasted with the tale of brave, little Katherine Figueroa, whose undocumented parents were arrested during Arpaio's 2009 raid on a local, family-owned car wash.

Despite her tender age, Figueroa has since spoken out against Arpaio and his sick, publicity-driven need to run around after dishwashers, landscapers and those waxing autos for tips.
Figueroa is an American citizen by birth, as is Arpaio. Though one is a credit to this country, and the other is a near-senile despot, albeit elected to his position by a rabidly anti-Latino Arizona public.
I should mention that the video above features a clip from an interview with Village Voice Media Executive Editor Michael Lacey, who though not undocumented, also got pinched (falsely) by Apaio's thugs on some bogus charges, and is now suing the sheriff and everyone involved.
Wouldn't it be great if, before this doc is done, Arpaio is indicted by the federal grand jury currently investigating his mafia-like criminal enterprise, otherwise known as the MCSO? Hey, dare to dream, people.
