A Phoenix robbery suspect is dead after shooting it out with police after holding up a 7-11.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a robbery in progress at the convenience store near 48th Street and McDowell Road about 2 a.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect ran out of the store and fired at the cops.
Bad move.
The officers returned fire as the suspect fled in a vehicle.
The vehicle, police say, was found stopped seven blocks away at 38th Street and McDowell. Inside: one dead suspect.
Police say the dead suspect was probably a passenger in the vehicle, not the driver.
No officers were hurt in the shootout.
