Just heard from Dan Saban, a decent guy who has taken on Sheriff Joe Arpaio on the campaign trail and in civil court (and, alas, has lost every time).

He tells us that he recently participated in a roundtable discussion with CNN "regarding the abuses of authority by Joe Arpaio and friends."

Saban tells us the story will air during the Campbell Brown show tomorrow (Friday, June 4), between 5 and 6 p.m. Arizona time,

According to Dan (in the photo), the other panelists are Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, Chandler police sergeant Tom Lovejoy, and Village Voice Media executive editor Michael Lacey, a founder of Phoenix New Times

Motley crew!

Readers probably know who the other guys are, but they may not remember Lovejoy.

He was booked by Arpaio's goons in summer 2007 into the county jail on a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty after he left his dog Bandit in a patrol car for more than 12 hours.

Bandit died.

Lovejoy later was acquitted of the charge after a less-than-stellar performance by prosecutor Lisa Aubuchon, a onetime top deputy to ex-Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

We realize that the thing already has been taped, but wish that Campbell could have snuck in a question or two to Mayor Gordon about his girlfriend's financial dealings with the city.

Maybe he'd come clean with her, because he's sure clamming up with us.

Oh, we get it...not the time or the place. Sure.

Anyway, check it out.
