McCain Campaign Volunteer Ashley Todd Mutilates Self in Invented Political Attack

By Ray Stern

One look at Ashley Todd's picture (above), and you know she's the kind of campaign volunteer who goes the extra mile for her candidate, John McCain.

That black eye and the "B" carved on her face -- her own handiwork, police say. Todd, a Texas college student who worked on the College Republican National Committee, reportedly did it to embellish her story about being beat up and robbed by a huge black man who wanted to force her to be a Barack supporter.

Todd's blog has been taken off a College Republican Web site,, but not before Internet users jumped on the site to mock her.

Village Voice Media's has more details, including cached versions of Todd's MySpace page.
