The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office received a call early Tuesday about a possible suicide at a Sun Lakes home, but after deputies arrived at the scene, they’re now investigating a possible homicide.
MCSO Sergeant Jesse Spurgin tells New Times that the sheriff’s office received a call around 2 a.m. about a possible suicide at a home near East Riggs and South Dobson roads in the community of Sun Lakes.
The deputies found a dead man at the home, he says, but homicide detectives were called in shortly thereafter.
“Responding deputies did discover a deceased white male,” Spurgin says. “But there were some suspicious things they discovered that didn’t quite fit a suicide.”

Deputies have spoken to a person of interest in the case, but no one has been taken into custody, he says.
The identity of the man is being withheld as investigators make a determination as to the cause of death, and Spurgin says homicide investigators have asked him not to comment any further on details surrounding the case.
