Unless you’re ABC 15’s Josh Bernstein, it probably doesn’t come as much of a shock that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s huffing and puffing about a possible run for governor over the last several months turned out to be a lot of bark and no bite from America’s self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff.”
However, we’re a little torn over how to feel about Arpaio’s decision not to run.
On the one hand, had Arpaio not chickened out, he would have had to give up his position as sheriff with no guarantee that he would be elected governor.
In other words, if he ran, there’s a good chance he would have lost and faded into obscurity.

On the other, there’s a chance he could have actually been elected governor and taken his corrupt, brown-bashing policies to the state capitol.
Either way, Maricopa County is now stuck with Arpaio for the time being, and we want to know how you feel about it — did Arizona dodge a bullet yesterday, or did Maricopa County miss an opportunity to get rid of a corrupt sheriff, who has no problem pissing on the Constitution?
