Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
On Thursday night, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio conducted a raid of the Burlington Coat Factory in the Arizona Mills Mall.
He arrested three undocumented workers — and we stress the word “workers.”
With the huge number of un-served, felony warrants in Maricopa County, and the coyotes and drug smugglers moving hundreds of people and tons of drugs through the county every day, many people say — as they often do after one of Joe’s raids — using the resources of the Sheriff’s Office to target people who, legally speaking, are small potatoes, is a waste of time.
On the other side of the coin, some people say every little bit helps.
We want to know what you think: Was Arpaio’s latest raid a waste of time, money, and resources, or is the world now a safer place because a few retail workers are no longer hanging clothes at the Burlington Coat Factory?
Vote — and see the results of Friday’s poll — after the jump.
Friday’s poll question: What should Joe Arpaio do for his birthday?
-4 percent say wash his hair.
-19 percent say stick a grenade up his ass and pull the pin.
-19 percent say prepare for his perp walk.
-3 percent say hold his breath…forever.
-55 percent say he could go fuck himself the way he’s been fucking every citizen of Maricopa county since the day he took office.
Here is your morning poll:
