If you’ve got a boatload of money and are looking for a home in Arizona, we have a suggestion for where to spend your virtually unlimited resources. If you want to live among the richest of the rich, you should aim to buy a home in the 85253 ZIP code.
That’s according to the luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report, which used data from Realtor.com. The report listed the most expensive ZIP codes in all 50 states according to median home listing price and median square footage. The median home price in 85253 is $5.5 million, and the median square footage is nearly 6,000 square feet.
And where, exactly, might this ZIP code be? We’re surprised you had to ask. It is, of course, in Phoenix’s enclave for the uber-rich: Paradise Valley. Specifically, the ZIP code spans from Camelback Road to Shea Boulevard and from 32nd Street to Scottsdale Road.
Paradise Valley is known for its large lots, luxurious homes and stunning views of Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak. Its integration with the surrounding desert wildlife and fauna give it a unique flavor, especially for a ZIP code known for outrageous wealth.
Paradise Valley is sometimes referred to as the “Beverly Hills of Arizona” for attracting plenty of wealthy celebrities, including Alice Cooper, Charles Barkley and the late Muhammad Ali. While it was always an affluent area, home prices have soared in Paradise Valley since the coronavirus pandemic.
Nationally, Paradise Valley ranks eighth among the most pricey ZIP codes on the Robb Report’s list. (Though, of course, other states like California and New York certainly have multiple ZIP codes pricier than Paradise Valley.) However, Paradise Valley falls well short of the priciest ZIP codes in New York ($8.77 million), New Jersey ($9.9 million), California ($9.85 million) and Florida ($12.45 million).
The ZIP code’s 5,590 median square foot size was also among the highest in the county. The only ZIP codes on the Robb Report list to surpass it were in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia.
