The Massachusetts Republican who eeked out an unlikely victory in his own U.S. Senate election last month will be in the Valley later this week to campaign for Senator John McCain, The Maverick's campaign announced today.

Senator Scott Brown, who won the hearts of GOPers everywhere by becoming the first Republican to win a Democratically controlled Senate seat in Massachusetts since the Eisenhower administration -- and putting an end to the Democratic, filibuster-proof super majority in the Senate -- will be in Phoenix on Friday to help McCain fend off his primary challenger, former Congressman J.D. Hayworth.

McCain and Brown will hold a rally at Grand Canyon University on Friday before heading to Tucson for a meet-and-greet after the two attend a University of Arizona basketball game on Saturday.

Brown will be the first of two big-name McCain supporters to visit the Valley this month. The campaign already announced that former McCain running mate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin willjoin the senator on the campaign trail later this month -- so we have that to, um, look forward to.
