Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is known for railing against the billionaire class that exerts disproportionate power over life in the United States. Two months into the second administration of President Donald Trump – who has allowed Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, to take a chainsaw to the federal government – Sanders’ rhetoric has become only more urgent.
And now, he’s coming to Arizona to hear from residents about it.
Sanders and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are traveling to Tempe on Thursday in the latest in their tour of America, “Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here.” Sanders said in a video posted to his social media account that he wants to “hold meetings with working people.”
“We’re doing that because I believe all over this county, people are profoundly disgusted with what is going on here in Washington, D.C.,” Sanders said. “They see our great nation moving toward an oligarchy where Elon Musk and other billionaires are running the government.”
