In case you haven't heard about the bill to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gay marriage nationwide, don't worry, Republican Congressman Trent Franks is already on it.
Franks, as well as Republican Congressman David Schweikert, are among the 28 Republican congressmen seeking to change the Constitution to declare, "Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman."

Of course, Franks -- fresh off creating a nationwide ruckus for declaring that there aren't that many pregnancies that result from rape -- is no fan of letting gays get married.
Obviously, there will be no such thing as "America" if gay marriage continues to be allowed in this country (according to the strange, strange mind of Trent Franks).
Gay marriage "literally is a threat to the nation's survival," Franks declared in 2011. Somehow, Franks seems to think straight folks will stop procreating because gays can have a legally recognized marriage. If we had to guess, we'd opine that Franks didn't think too hard about that theory.
The proposed amendment, submitted by Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp, also states, "Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman."
Interestingly, we didn't see a press release from either Franks or Schweikert, explaining why gays don't deserve marriage.
The only thing we've heard out of Franks is a tirade on Facebook, in which he freaks out over the Supreme Court's recent decisions on gay-marriage cases.
Franks warns that if the Supreme Court keeps doing stuff like this, then "we can board up the Capitol and White House and send the people and their elected representatives home to henceforth live and breathe at the pleasure of a tyrannical judicial oligarchy." It appears the tinfoil hats we assume he wears have been doing a good job deflecting the government brain-control rays.
And, just like all of Franks' failed abortion bills, this proposed amendment is a waste of time too, because it has no chance of being passed.
