Tucson police announced last night that they arrested a teacher at a Tucson high school for allegedly having sex with one of her male students.

Police say 25-year-old Christie Elliot, an English teacher and cheerleading coach at Empire High School, had an inappropriate, sexual relationship with a minor student at the school.

The victim’s parents, police say, found inappropriate messages on their son’s cell phone back in April and called police.

After serving search warrants and interviewing those involved, police determined that the student had an inappropriate sexual relationship with Elliot, who happened to be his English teacher.

Elliot turned herself in to authorities last night. She faces charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and sexual conduct with a minor.

Elliot is being held in the Pima County Jail.
