Tucson Rampage Adds to Long History of U.S. Shooting Sprees

Saturday's shooting rampage in Tucson, which left six people dead and 14 others injured -- including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords -- is just the latest in at least 30 documented rampage shootings in American history.

Listed below are 10 of the deadliest:

*November 5, 2009 -- Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, was accused of shooting up the Fort Hood military base, located near Killeen Texas. Hasan allegedly killed 13 people and injured 30 others before police shot him, paralyzing him from the chest down. Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, currently faces 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder.

*April 3, 2009 -- Jiverly Antares Wong, 41, killed 13 people and injured four others during his dual-handgun shooting spree at an immigration center in Binghamton, New York. Following the rampage, Wong committed suicide.

*April 16, 2003 -- Seung-Hui Cho, 23, embarked on the deadliest solo shooting incident in U.S. history, killing 32 people and injuring 25 others before committing suicide on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Va.

*July 29, 1999 -- Mark Barton, 44, shot and killed nine people and injured 13 more at two Atlanta day-trading firms, before killing himself. Barton had lost more than $100,000 in investments over the previous two months. The day before the rampage, Barton killed his two children, ages 10 and 12, with a hammer. The day before that, he murdered his wife -- also with a hammer. Barton also is a suspect in the beating deaths of his first wife and her mother six years prior to the shootings.

*April 20, 1999 -- Eric Harris,18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, went on a shooting rampage inside Columbine High School in Colorado, killing 13 people and injuring 21. The pair committed suicide in the school's library.

*July 1, 1993 -- Gian Luigi Ferri, 55, entered a law office on the 34th floor of an office building in San Francisco, donning two TEC-9 handguns and an extra pistol. He opened fire on several floors of the building, killing nine people and injuring six before committing suicide.

*October 16, 1991 -- George Jo Hennard, 35, went into a Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas, shooting and killing 23 people and injuring another 20 before committing suicide after being cornered by police.

*August 20, 1986 -- Patrick Sherrill, 44, a mailman, went postal on other employees inside a post office in Edmond, Oklahoma., killing 14 people and injuring six others before committing suicide.

*July 18, 1984 -- James Oliver Huberty, 41, sprayed 257 rounds of ammunition in a San Diego McDonald's, killing 21 people and injuring 19 others before a police sniper put a bullet in his heart.

*August 1, 1966 -- Charles Whitman, 25, began sniping people from a tower on the University of Texas at Austin campus, killing 16 people and injuring 32. Whitman was fatally shot by police at the scene.
