Woman's Naked Body Dumped in Tempe Neighborhood

Early this morning, someone dumped a naked and beaten body in a quiet Tempe neighborhood and vanished.

Police received a call about 4:30 a.m., saying a woman was lying in the street near Baseline Road and McClintock Drive. When they arrived, they found the beaten body of a Hispanic or Native American woman in her early 20s.

"We are not sure how she died," Tempe police Sergeant Mike Pooley says. "We are confident she was not killed at that location, but only dumped there."

Pooley says the police department is focusing on identifying the woman (who is depicted in the sketch above, and larger below). She wore silver earnings with turquoise stones and had a diamond studded nose ring in her right nostril. Pooley says she has no tattoos or other markings to identify her.

Police also are withholding certain details of the woman's injuries because they don't want to give away information while conducting their investigation.

"At this time, our detectives are still looking for any assistance from the public," Pooley says. "Anybody with information is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department."
