We at Phoenix New Times are kicking off our year-end campaign. By December 31, we’re aiming to raise $30,000 to fuel our work into the new year.
This is a bold goal for our newsroom. But we believe we’ll get there. Readers like you have been incredibly generous in supporting our reporters and editors. We’ve continued to pay you back in kind with aggressive, original reporting. And events in our community keep underscoring how essential this work is right now.
Our theme for this drive is “When news happens, Phoenix New Times is there.” Time and again, New Times has stepped up in times of change. We help our readers make sense of uncertainty and prepare for what’s ahead.
If ever there was a year when uncertainty reigned, it was 2025. I’m proud to say our reporters and editors keep answering the bell.
When news happens, Phoenix New Times is there —
Your support strengthens our coverage.
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
When Kris Mayes sues Donald Trump, we’re on the case for you. When Trump and Steven Miller spewed vitriol at Charlie Kirk’s funeral in Glendale, we were on the scene.
We’re watchdogging the tragic spate of fatal shootings by Phoenix police this year. And when a court-ordered audit revealed that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had corruptly misallocated $163 million of taxpayer dollars that it said were going toward being less racist, we unpacked the entire, sordid report for you.
As the state experiences its sharpest spike in measles cases in living memory, we sent a reporter to the epicenter of the outbreak in northern Arizona to find out what’s happening on the ground — and to explain how a self-described prophet now serving time in a Texas prison is partly responsible for people getting sick.
Meanwhile, we’re also stirring up the sort of news that isn’t patently depressing. I’m talking about the Valley going full Time Warp for the 50th anniversary of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” cornering Alice Cooper and Rob Halford for rare interviews, and finding the best bars for you to celebrate Pride (or, you know, any given weekend).
We are able to bring this level of depth and tenacity and curiosity to your city because we have the resources to employ some of the sharpest reporters, editors and writers in the area. And I know I say this in every one of these fundraising emails, but it bears repeating: We still make this work free to everyone in our community. When you support New Times, you’re supporting thousands of people around your city and state who might not otherwise have access to this level of committed coverage.
If our work has informed or empowered you this year, I hope you’ll consider making a contribution and becoming a member. Every gift brings us closer to that $30,000 goal, which we are going to plow straight into covering the hell out of Phoenix in 2026.
Thank you for being part of our community. This work doesn’t happen without you.
