Java hounds on the hunt for a coffee shop with a European edge may want to make note of Altitude Coffee Lab.
Coming to the McCormick Ranch area in early September, Altitude Coffee Lab will feature an in-house roasting system, rare and exotic beans, and "a relaxed European-style atmosphere reminiscent of the best coffee houses in Amsterdam, Rome, and Brussels."
Here's what's roasting:

Courtesy of Paul Musikanth and Craig Matthew, who honed their coffee-making skills at Origin Coffee Roasting in South Africa, Altitude will feature the Joper roasting system (from Portugal), "one of the most significant innovations in coffee since the introduction of the espresso machine."
In addition to the coffee, Altitude will offer a seasonal, small plate menu and fresh-baked pastries. In late September, spirits, wine, and local brews will be available in the evening.
Located at 8320 North Hayden Road (Hayden and Via de Ventura) in Scottsdale, Altitude's digs will include a lake-view patio and a sound system that will allow the coffee shop to host events such as live music.
