Bojangles, the popular fast fried chicken joint from North Carolina, will open locations in Phoenix and Gilbert, according to the Arizona franchise operator.

In March 2024, Bojangles announced big plans for expansion into Arizona. The company has 20 restaurants planned to open around the Valley. Specific locations and timelines for those openings were not announced at the time.

On Monday afternoon, a representative for the operators leading the expansion into Arizona, LVP Restaurant Group and Kingsbarn Realty Capital, confirmed the first two sites.

The first location will open in Gilbert, on Val Vista Drive and Melrose Street, north of Germann Road. It is anticipated to welcome its first customers before the end of the year.

The second location will be in Phoenix, located on Indian School Road just east of 99th Avenue. That outpost will open in 2026, according to the operating group's spokesperson.

The Bojangles operators bought the land from Diversified Partners, a Scottsdale-based real estate company. A representative from Diversified Partners also confirmed the locations.

Bojangles is growing at a time when demand for chicken is "at an all-time high," Bojangles' Chief Development Officer  Jim Cannon said in the 2024 announcement.

Now, we know at least two neighborhoods where Valley diners will be able to find the chain's crispy fried chicken, biscuits, dirty rice and sweet tea in the future.
