For those still wondering what to do this holiday weekend, checking out the new and bigger location of Matt's Big Breakfast might be reason enough to drag your late-sleeping ass out of bed.

Check out the full slideshow of Matt's Big Breakfast and the new location.

The restaurant in Central Phoenix, from chef-owner Matt Poole, is as famous for its exceptional homemade breakfast dishes as it it is for its long lines. Which is why the new space, a few doors north of the old Matt's in the former Verde location, will accommodate more of Matt's fans by seating around 50 people (twice the number of the original restaurant) in addition to having its own restroom (that's right, no more next-door Coronado Hotel.)

The new Matt's will keep the same phone number, menu, and hours. Poole plans to convert the old location (which he's had for eight years) to a takeout-only business with a limited menu once the new Matt's is up and running smoothly.

Matt's Big Breakfast (new location) 825 North First Street 602-254-1074 Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m Tuesday through Sunday

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
