Mensho Ramen, the popular Japanese chain that made its Arizona debut last summer, is gearing up to open a second location in Phoenix on Saturday.

The ramen shop will open at 4 p.m. inside the Crown on 7th, a strip of restaurants and shops located on Seventh Street and Palo Verde Drive, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant. Mensho will join neighboring spots including Pubblico Italian Eatery and Wildflower.

Mensho has already found devotees in the Valley with its first location. Lines of people eager to slurp up bowls of soup infused with earthy matcha or umami-laden garlic wove around its Mesa location when it opened in June.

The food is worth the hype, and Mensho landed among our list of the 10 best ramen restaurants in the Valley. Among our favorite bites is the Garlic Knock Out, or G.K.O. ramen. The soup showcases garlic five ways but still manages to be balanced by a rich broth with roasted tomatoes, sliced chicken and tender ramen noodles.

The Mesa space, although tucked into a strip mall at Dobson Road and Rio Salado Parkway, immerses diners with a cozy, wood-paneled dining room and bar. From there, diners can take in views of the crew working in the bustling kitchen and a room where Mensho’s noodles are made.

At the new Phoenix restaurant, the chefs will offer three additional ramen bowls to the five options available in Mesa. They include A5 Wagyu Truffle Cheese Shoyu, A5 Wagyu Lobster Miso Butter and Vegan Tantanmen bowls.

Following Saturday's opening event, the new restaurant will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

With lower temperatures in the Valley, Mensho's post from October feels spot on: “It's now the perfect weather for ramen!”
