Hot Daisy Pizza, a popular slice shop in the heart of Roosevelt Row from pastry chef Tammie Coe, is set to close this month.

Coe and her team announced on social media that the pizzeria will serve its last pies on April 30.

“After four incredible years serving the Roosevelt Row community, we’re closing this chapter with a huge thank you to everyone who made our time here so special,” the post said.
Hot Daisy opened in February 2021 on Roosevelt and Sixth streets, replacing Coe’s longstanding bakery, Tammie Coe Cakes. The pizzeria also sells cookies, cupcakes and other baked goods from Coe’s team. Coe has other bake shops, located in Scottsdale for pre-order pickup and in Terminal 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Those remain open.

The closure will allow Coe more time to focus on those locations and plot the next chapter of Hot Daisy.

“I’ve loved being here and loved making pastry and pizza here,” Coe says. “I just think I need to put some energy towards the other businesses that I have.”

The pizzeria serves slices and whole pies. Some lean traditional, such as Margherita and pepperoni, while others skew creative, like the popular Corny Baby-Elote Pie, which is layered with mozzarella and cotija cheeses, roasted corn, cilantro and chipotle oil. Phoenix New Times previously called the pizza “a texture party that brings a zing of herby, zesty, crunchy, salty and sweet.”

Hot Daisy is a go-to spot for casual dining, particularly during the bustling First Friday art walk. Now, Phoenicians have a few more weeks to grab their favorite slices from Coe and her team.

Coe teased that she’s eyeing other locations to revive Hot Daisy in the future, such as north Scottsdale, Gilbert or the airport, but she emphasizes nothing is locked in yet.

“The objective is to do more,” Coe says.

After the announcement was posted on Friday, fans shared their memories and sadness about the impending closure.

“Another blow to the Roosevelt Row culinary choices. Tammie Coe ooey gooey cupcakes best ever,” one Instagram user wrote.

The local pizza influencer, Wizard of Za, shared well-wishes for the team: “Love me some Hot Daisy and Tammie & the crew! Excited for your future!”

Coe shared her gratitude to diners, too.

“I want to thank everybody for their support,” Coe says. “It’s been a ton of experience and a ton of fun, but I’m not done yet.”
