James Beard Award-nominated restaurateur Sam Fox's fast-casual health food spot Flower Child is blooming this spring.
In May, about a year after the first location opened at 40th Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix, Fox plans to open a second Flower Child restaurant in North Scottsdale.

The 4,695-square-foot restaurant will be located at Shea Boulevard and 90th Street, in the Scottsdale Fiesta shopping center. Flower Child, the first of which opened last April, has been called a "second cousin" to True Food, Fox's more upscale chain of health restaurants.
Appetizers at Flower Child include avocado hummus, and entrées include a selection of salads, hot pots, and bowls. The restaurant also lets diners build-your-own combination of vegetables and grains, with options such as red chile-glazed sweet potato, quinoa tabbouleh, and gluten-free macaroni and cheese. For an extra fee, diners can add proteins to their meals including grass-fed beef, sustainable salmon, all natural chicken, or organic tofu.
The original location of Flower Child also serves a selection of organic beer and wine, and has kombucha on tap.
