Known for its certified authentic Neapolitan pizza, Pomo is relocating from its former home at The Borgata of Scottsdale shopping center (set to be demolished this summer in lieu of a condominium complex) and moving downtown to 705 North First Street, in the former home of Sens Asian Tapas.

And Pomo's brand-new 6,500-pound oven? That's coming, too.

Founded by the Italian trio of executive chef Matteo Schiavone and co-owners Stefano Fabbri and Mark Proto, Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana will continue to import all its food products directly from Italy as well as maintain the former Borgata location's kitchen staff, including Master Pastry Chef Debra Giovenco.

Also in tow, naturally, are Schiavone's certifications from the Verace Pizza Napoletana and the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani. But the big news (literally) is the new 6 feet 2 inches wide 6,500-pound oven. Created by a third-generation Napoletana oven maker, with Schiavone overseeing its production, the behemoth was shipped to Pomo's new downtown digs by way of Italy.

As reported earlier this month, the three-year-old Pomo also will add another location in North Scottsdale, at the Shops at Gainey Village (Scottsdale and Doubletree Roads), this September.
