Sphinx Date Co., originally Sphinx Date Ranch, has been in business for close to 75 years. It has been in its current location on Scottsdale Road for more than three decades. A new location and relocation date has yet to be announced.
Co-owners Sharyn and Rebecca Seitz have owned Sphinx Date Co. since 2012. The mother-and-daughter duo remains optimistic and plans to keep the doors to the yellow and white historic pantry open until the relocation is underway. And they are counting on the public’s continued support.
“Any small gesture can make a big difference — such as stopping into the shop, placing an online order, sharing Sphinx stories or making a donation,” notes the press release.

In addition to their signature dates, Sphinx stocks a selection of artisan food products from Arizona-based businesses including prickly pear-flavored popcorn by Kettle Heroes, Cutino Sauce Co. hot sauces, Hayden Flour Mills crackers and flours, Native Seeds golden mesquite pancake mix, Iconic Cocktail Co. handcrafted mixers and extra virgin olive oil from Queen Creek Olive Mill.
Arizona wines from Pillsbury Wine Company, Sonoita Vineyards, Merkin Vineyards, Page Springs Cellars, Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Provisioner Wines, Dos Cabezas Wineworks and Tombstone Winery are also available at the store.
Sphinx Date Co.’s current hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
