At Rafi Law Group, giving back is not limited to a season — it’s part of daily life. In Arizona, however, the summer brings unique challenges. Families face extreme heat, rising food insecurity, and the struggle to find safe shelter. That is why the firm created its Summer of Service program, a way to do even more for the community during the hottest months, when the need for water, food, and shelter grows especially urgent.
Now in its second year, Summer of Service has become a tradition. For twelve straight weeks this summer, the Rafi team stepped out into neighborhoods, schools, shelters, and food banks across Arizona. What began as a way to strengthen bonds inside the firm has grown into a signature initiative that reflects the heart of Rafi Law Group’s culture. It is about showing up when families need support most.
The service took many forms. Volunteers packed thousands of food boxes at St. Mary’s Food Bank, assembled meals with Feed My Starving Children, and distributed backpacks so that students could start the school year ready to learn. Teams prepared housing at Central Arizona Shelter Services and UMOM Day Centers, baked treats for children and families at Ryan House, and built emergency heat relief kits for vulnerable residents. At every stop, the work was hands-on, personal, and focused on helping people feel cared for.

What makes Summer of Service different from other programs is that it was designed for the hardest season. In Arizona, the heat is more than uncomfortable; it can be life-threatening. For families without reliable shelter, seniors without air conditioning, or children who depend on school lunches that are harder to access during break, summer is a season of real risk. Rafi Law Group recognized that gap and chose to lean in when the need is greatest. Few firms make community service a central part of their culture, and even fewer build a dedicated program to tackle the challenges of an Arizona summer head-on.
In total, the Summer of Service effort added up to more than 523 volunteer hours across Arizona. Beyond the numbers, the program became a reminder of what community connection looks like in action. Neighbors stood side by side to ease the toughest burdens of summer.
“Summer of Service was about showing up for each other,” says Rich Yado, Communications Director at Rafi Law Group. “Every week, our team stood alongside families and partner organizations, and together we were reminded that the strength of this community is in how we care for one another.”
For Rafi Law Group, Summer of Service is more than a seasonal project. It is an extension of the firm’s year-round commitment to giving back through its community initiative, Rafi’s Hope. By partnering with schools, shelters, food banks, and hospitals throughout the year, the firm works to make service part of its DNA. With its second Summer of Service now complete, Rafi Law Group is looking ahead to continuing its mission of uplifting families across Arizona — not only during the summer months, but every day of the year.
