Sure, Arizona lacks certain amenities, but for those of us with ancestry of the redneck type, the dearth of barbecue ranks among the most egregious failings. Funny, too, given the history of this gol-danged place, that you really have to seek the shit out.

Those with hick in their blood can simply follow their schnozzes on Saturday, December 5, to the inaugural Que & Brew: An Official Triple Crown Event BBQ State Championship. Officially sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, the event features a cook-off with pro and backyard “throw-down divisions,” a Four Peaks Brewery-sponsored beer garden, and tubs more fun.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 5, in the parking lot of Emerald Design Center.
