For the knuckleheads that keep insisting that there’s no history in Phoenix, we like to point to the Alwun House. The 40-year-old institution has weathered nearly every upside and downturn of the Phoenix art scene. This is Alwun’s 27th year of spicing up things with their “Exotic Art” show and the Exotic Phantasmagorical Spectacular kicks it off.
Annie Sprinkles – the world renowned former sex worker, porn star, and current performance artist and sex educator – will oversee the night of music, burlesque, and drag queens as the goddess of ceremonies. Body painting by Mark Greenawalt, ritual suspension by Life Suspended, and bawdy balloon animals from Joe the Balloon Pimp promise to keep things interesting.
