Now that MySpace has basically killed itself, the best way to check out new music is to hit the streets. That’s where you’ll find Mika Miko, who post up tonight at the Trunk Space, 1506 Grand Avenue. The five-piece punk group has been grinding for six years with a mix of self-released offerings and flirtations with Sub Pop and Kill Rock Stars. The all-chick ensemble’s latest, We Are Xuxa, is filled to the brim with their wily punk, striped with garage, noise, and the faintest touch of surf.
Veterans of The Smell, downtown L.A.’s epicenter of new music, Mika Miko lands in the PHX after a month touring in Europe.
