A handful of major label beers have dominated the canned libations market for as long as most of us remember. Although living the High Life on a Clydesdale with Silver Bullets in a can sounds enticing, exploring the craftsmanship of today’s cache of independent brewing artisans is a more flavorful endeavor.

The little guys will show big beer business how it’s done at the inaugural AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Festival. Whole Foods and San Tan Brewing have teamed up to sponsor a gathering of private brewers who understand that good beer doesn’t have to come in a bottle or on tap. Local vendors will include San Tan, Four Peaks, Mogollon, and Grand Canyon Brewing. Dozens of others will be there, along with swing band Royal Crown Revue, a beer science garden for the fermented intellectual, and nibbles to help soak up the beer. You’ll also get the chance to test your inebriated mettle at the Beer Olympics.
