$10,000

We’re ashamed to admit it, but we’ve always admired cosplayers. Not for their taste – or diet or personal hygiene – but for their courage. You have to respect someone who proudly advertises his or her interests with no regard for the stigmatization that inevitably follows.

If you’re a closeted rockabilly fan, take a page from the cosplayers’ handbook and drag your friends to F1 Race Factory for “Tres Días” Rockabilly Festival. Your ignorant pals may hear “rockabilly” and think “hick,” but after they check out righteous acts like Dick Dale, The Blasters, and Agent Orange, they might just change their minds.

The fest also includes a custom-car show and a pin-up girl contest.

Fri., March 20, 2 p.m.; Sat., March 21, 10 a.m.; Sun., March 22, 10 a.m., 2009
