The past was when quilting was a stay-at-home thing, the purview of grannies who made blankets and groups of backwoods gals who wanted an excuse to get together and bitch. Today, quilting is an art form. Look no further for proof than Chandler, where Vision Gallery and Chandler Center for the Arts will present their 15th annual cooperative quilting exhibit. “Art Quilts XV: Needleplay” offers pieces selected to represent a wide range of techniques and design solutions — everything from painting and monoprinting to photo transfer and machine piecing — that artists use today to create contemporary quilt pieces.

Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: Nov. 5. Continues through Jan. 15, 2010
