Golden Age superheroes represented more than just wish fulfillment. It’s a world every kid needs to believe in, even if it is completely out of touch with reality.

Don some tights (optional) and speed to “Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books,” 1938-1950, an interactive exhibit exploring such timeless greats as Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman and Captain America. The show includes vintage artwork, books, movie serials, interactive displays and a retro coin-operated Batmobile ride. There’s also a drawing studio, comic book nook and costume stations, where kids can find everything they need to gear up as their favorite hero.
