There’s one thing the public needs to get straight: graffiti does not automatically mean vandalism. There’s a huge difference between, say, Lalo Cota’s graffiti murals along Roosevelt between 7th Street and Central Avenue and the wiener that was spray-painted on your dad’s truck by the neighborhood kids.

Spy some graffiti art that showcases a killer sense of color, expert organization of large space, dynamic artistic energy, and a whole butt-load of talent at the Third Friday reception for “Landmarks” at Pravus Gallery. The show celebrates local talent, like the aforementioned Cota, Suchstyles, Brez, Killer Ka, Kaper, House, Enuf, and Champstyles.

Fri., Aug. 20, 6-10 p.m., 2010
