Okay, so Phoenix doesn’t get snow. Boo-hoo. Who wants it anyway? Having to trudge through frozen water is not glamorous, pretty, or convenient. So get over it already.

Instead, we make our own traditions like luminarias. A desert path lined with the flickering glow from humble paper bags is just as gorgeous as a snow-dusted lawn. And, guess what? We don’t have to shovel luminarias to get to our car.

We win.

And we win on Saturday, December 18, when a local park offers an evening hike on trails decorated with the beautiful southwest holiday tradition.

This year, make your gift count –

$30,000

Check out the Luminary Walk at Cave Creek Regional Park, 37019 North Lava Lane. The trail is open from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is lined with the glowing bags.

Sat., Dec. 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m., 2010
