Hundreds — more likely thousands — fondly remember the good ol’ days with a monkey on their back; in this instance, RedMonkey, the long-reigning, irregularly held house music celebration thrown down by infamous local DJ Pete Salaz. Wave your Tootsie Pops in the air, because RedMonkey’s making a comeback. Back in the day, Salaz brought the boogie at the slightly seedy Riverbottom Lounge in south Phoenix; that joint’s defunct now, so the RedMonkey’s crack-a-lackin’ at .anti_space (815 West Madison Street) this time ’round. If you missed the monkey screeching from ’97 to ’01, you won’t want to miss the redux on Saturday, September 10, with Salaz, DJ E House, and DJ Plotz. Admission is $7, the party’s 18 and over, and it runs from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
