New York, Paris, and Los Angeles are world-famous for their fashion scenes. Mesa, on the other hand, isn’t exactly high on that list (hell, it’s not anywhere on that list) — but some of the students of Mesa Community College’s fashion program hope to change that.

The budding Coco Chanels and Alexander McQueens of MCC will premiere their original designs on the catwalk at the Streets of New York Fashion Show. According to Program Director Evonne Bowling, the clothing featured will be purely student-created, from wearable art pieces to high fashion designs. Many of her students go on to study at some of the country’s most prestigious fashion & design institutions like FIT and Parsons, so chances are they’ll be telling you what to wear in the very near future.

To complement the NYC theme, the event will also feature a Canal Street shopping area and a silent auction benefiting the program’s Fashion Scholarship Fund.
