After he reads some of his more recent essays from the podium of what’s being touted as “the new Virginia G. Piper Theater” (what happened to the old one?), and before he sits down to sign copies of his many bestselling books, author David Sedaris will conduct a question-and-answer session with his audience. Longtime fans of Sedaris — whose most recent blockbuster, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, includes the popular piece “The Smoking Section,” about the author’s attempt to kick nicotine — know not to ask for his impersonation of Billie Holiday (he reportedly won’t do it) and have been spreading rumors that Sedaris may read from Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk, his forthcoming collection of animal-themed stories.
