Helzapoppin’ may sound like a damnation-themed dance night, but this weekend, the name refers to the Helzapoppin’ Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). Every March since 1935, this nationally sanctioned rodeo has celebrated our Wild West heritage with bronco riding, bull fighting, and the crowning of the Miss Helzapoppin’ PRCA Rodeo Queen. Recent years have also included parades, car shows, and a demolition derby; this year, there’s even mutton busting for the kiddos (because nothing says family time like watching your child get flung to the ground by a sheep).
Shine up your boots, grab your ten-gallon hat, and head on down to the Helzapoppin’ Rodeo Arena.
Fri., March 19, 7 p.m.; Sat., March 20, 7 p.m.; Sun., March 21, 1 p.m., 2010
