There is one winter tradition that many cultures relate to: obesity. In the next couple of months, some combination of cold weather, crippling loneliness, abundance of fatty foods, and depressing interaction with family members will help you pack on tons of unwanted pounds. There’s not much you can do to fight this. The key is to take preventative measures.

If you want to be prepared for the unhealthiest months of the year, we recommend participating in the Phoenix Summit Challenge. The event, which runs from Friday, November 5, through Sunday, November 7, is an opportunity for hiking enthusiasts to shed some fat while enjoying the view from multiple summits throughout Phoenix, including South Mountain, Papago Park, Camelback Mountain, and Shaw Butte.

Fri., Nov. 5; Sat., Nov. 6; Sun., Nov. 7, 2010
